Water Birth
Lush vocal textures created in the 'Cistern Chapel', a huge concrete water tank at a disused army base in north-western USA. Previously used to great effect by Stuart Dempster and Pauline Oliveros, among others, the 'chapel' now becomes Shoemaker's instrument. It's hard to believe, at times, that there's only one voice there, but that's what the notes say: no electronics and no modifications, just a stunning 45-second reverb.
