Lee Ellen Shoemaker,
The Tunnel Singer has developed a unique style of improvisation
singing in tunnels, caves and old mortar magazine bunkers. By
using overtone singing and chanting, she actually accompanies
herself in real time. The reverberation in these places can
exceed 45 seconds in length, allowing Shoemaker to sing several
notes before the first one fades out, creating a choir-like
sound.
Unaccompanied except
for the drone of a Tibetan singing bowl or moon harp, which
Shoemaker also plays, her wordless vocalizations seem formed
in the angelic realms rather than created on this planet.
Night Skies
is an excellent meditation tool. It would also work well for
massage and other wordless healing work. Soulful, innocent,
magnificent, and mysterious as the night sky, this album will
leave listeners breathless with wonder.
