Musical Soundscapes

Water Birth
by The Tunnel Singer (Lee Ellen Shoemaker)

Powerful crystalline vocal stylings are magically – and naturally – transformed into a hauntingly beautiful, alien choir in this impressive offering from avant garde vocalist Lee Ellen Shoemaker.

Recorded at the "Cistern Chapel," which is a 2 million gallon underground cistern in Port Townsend, Washington, the Tunnel Singer takes full advantage of the 45 second reverberation and peculiar sound wave behavior to evoke dark, shamanic soundscapes.

Using only her voice, which sounds like a distant spirit calling from the womb of Mother Earth, Lee Ellen creates a grounding, ambient space for inner exploration and healing which is unlike anything you’ve heard before.

Recommended.
