Stanford
University isn't known for its tunnels, but each time I drive
Interstate 280 over the building houses the two mile-long Stanford
Linear Accelerator, I imagine what it might be like to send
my voice down that L-O-N-G tunnel. What
songs do particles sing as they flash along the corridor?
A sound
engineer at Stanford's radio station, KZSU created a "virtual
tunnel" for me when I performed live in their studio. It's
probably the closest I'll ever come to the liner accelerator.
Martin
Tickle (from my Ravens In Moonlight album), Geoff Brown
and I, made music in a tunnel-shaped passageway at the Stanford
Stadium for a live, remote music broadcast for KZSU. The combination
of didgeridoos, voice and percussion created quite a vibe. KZSU
included a selection from our performance on a compilation CD
of live performances they produced.
